Hanmi-yo Bae-si Toga - The ‘Pure-Ware’ of the
‘Pure-Ware’ Lab

The art of ‘‘Puraedog’’, used as fine dinnerware by the royal family in Korea, has been passed down solely by the Hanmiyo Bae-si Toga-’Pure ware’ Lab, perfected through the family’s unique mastery and technique. The Bae family’s method of production and value have been designated by the state as an intangible cultural asset.

Since early 1980s, the research in the material and firing techniques of ‘Puraedog’ has been carried out by the 6th generation of the Bae family, Bae Yeon-sik, who mastered the ‘Pure ware’ today, a developed form of the ‘Puraedog’ fired at 1300℃.

Each work of ‘Pure ware’ takes over 3 years, and it’s the closest form to nature, consisting of only clay, wood and natural sea salt.
The entire process is done by hand; therefore, no two completed works are the exact same and each work of ‘Pure ware’ becomes one unique work of art.

‘Pure ware’ is both highly artistic and functional
In addition to being highly regarded collectible works, ‘Pure ware’ is also used to detoxify water in chemotherapy treatment clinics in Korea, providing clean healthy water not only for cancer patients but for postoperative patients, newborn babies, children and the general public alike. It’s highly celebrated in countries abroad where the quality of water is not satisfactory or where water is strongly alkaline.

Our family’s utmost priority is for our works to reflect both tradition and contemporary flow of time today.
Delving into our predecessors’ traditional methods in their pursuit for knowledge and functionality, we also reinterpret ‘Pure ware’ to adapt to the contemporary lifestyle today, and research and perfect the ways in which it can contribute to good health in the society. We also wish for our ‘Pure ware’, praised for its practicality by its users, to impress the world with its functionality and continue to be loved and celebrated by the generations to come.

The official term for ‘Pure ware’ is ‘Puraedog’.
‘Pure ware’ is the product name by Hanmiyo Bae-si Toga-’Pure ware’ Lab, and the design patents, trademarks and designs uniquely cultivated by the Bae family throughout the generations are protected by Intellectual Property Rights of the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
